    • Encouraging intermittent fasting to address chronic diseasesEncourage individuals to stop snacking and adopt intermittent fasting, reduce carbohydrate intake, educate healthcare providers, and avoid liquid calories for better health.

If we want to address the issue of chronic diseases, which affect a large percentage of the global population, we need to encourage people to stop snacking and adopt intermittent fasting. This simple change would require individuals to restructure their meals and reduce their overall carbohydrate intake. Healthcare providers also need to be educated about the benefits of intermittent fasting and encouraged to promote it to their patients. Additionally, people need to be made aware of the negative effects of consuming liquid calories, such as sugary beverages, and look for healthier alternatives. Ultimately, the first step towards better health is acknowledging the importance of food and making the decision to stop snacking. It's a hard truth, but an essential one.

    • Setting a good example for healthy eatingEncourage adequate protein intake and proper portion control for sustainable, achievable changes to improve health and wellbeing.

Healthcare professionals, including doctors and dietitians, have a responsibility to set a good example for their patients, especially when it comes to healthy eating habits. This means avoiding unhealthy behaviors like smoking and excessive snacking. For those who struggle with motivation to make dietary changes, it's important to meet them where they are and help them make small, manageable steps towards healthier choices. One effective strategy is to encourage adequate protein intake, as it is the most satiating macronutrient and can help reduce hunger between meals. Proper portion control is also essential to avoid overdoing it on healthy fats. Overall, the goal is to help individuals make sustainable, achievable changes to improve their health and wellbeing.

    • Reconnecting with ancestral health patterns for improved well-beingModerate carb intake, make healthier choices, adjust meal frequency, prioritize sleep, and connect with nature for better health outcomes

Due to metabolic instability in the majority of the population, reducing carbohydrate intake is essential for overall health. This doesn't mean eliminating all carbs entirely, but rather practicing moderation and making healthier choices. The domino effect of making small, feasible changes in meal frequency, food choices, sleep, and connection to nature can lead to improved well-being. Our modern world, with its constant technological stimulation, is increasingly out of alignment with our bodies' natural design. By reconnecting with ancestral health patterns, we can make decisions that support our bodies and lead to better health outcomes. Remember, it's all about making choices that work for you and focusing on the positives.

    • Focus on the basics for improved well-beingImprove sleep, interpersonal skills, connect with nature for better well-being. Patience and long-term perspective required. Weight loss is one benefit of intermittent fasting, focus on interior validation for motivation. Fasting may not work for everyone, address specific issues for success.

Simplifying our lives and focusing on the basics, such as getting enough sleep, improving interpersonal skills, and connecting with nature, can lead to significant improvements in overall well-being. It's important to remember that these changes may not bring instant gratification and require patience and a long-term perspective. Additionally, understanding that weight loss is just one aspect of the benefits of intermittent fasting and focusing on the interior validation of the body's improvements can help maintain motivation during the process. Fasting may not work for everyone, and specific issues such as gut health and sleep quality should be addressed to ensure success.

    • Unique challenges for women fasting due to hormonal fluctuationsAcknowledge the journey of fasting is not a straight line for women, prioritize self-care, and work with specialists to optimize the experience.

Women's experiences with fasting are unique due to their hormonal fluctuations. Fasting can be more challenging for women, especially those who are insulin or leptin resistant. It's essential to acknowledge that the journey of fasting is not a straight line, and women may need to work with specialists, change medications, or undergo testing to optimize their fasting experience. During certain times of the menstrual cycle, women may find it easier to fast, while other periods may require more rest. Perimenopause, a transitional phase leading to menopause, can also impact women's ability to fast, making it crucial to expect the unexpected and be more introspective during this time. Women are often juggling multiple responsibilities, making it essential to prioritize self-care and adapt their fasting practices accordingly.

    • Perimenopause as a barometer for self-carePrioritize self-care during perimenopause to make the menopause transition smoother. Proper sleep, nutrition, and exercise are crucial. Avoid unhealthy habits like increased wine consumption and prioritize hormonal support if needed.

Taking good care of oneself during perimenopause can make the transition into menopause smoother. However, many women turn to unhealthy habits like increased wine consumption due to stress, lack of sleep, and weight gain. These behaviors can lead to a worsening of symptoms and make the menopause transition more difficult. It's important to view perimenopause as a barometer for overall self-care. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and bioidenticals can be helpful for some women, but they should not be a substitute for addressing underlying lifestyle issues. Proper sleep, nutrition, and exercise are crucial for managing perimenopause and menopause symptoms. It's essential to find a balance that works best for each individual and prioritize self-care to optimize overall health.

    • Addressing Lifestyle Factors is Key Before HRTEducation and addressing lifestyle factors are essential for managing menopause symptoms effectively, reducing shame and discomfort, and ensuring a positive long-term outcome with HRT or other hormonal treatments.

Addressing the lifestyle factors is crucial before considering hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for managing menopause symptoms. HRT can have various effects on individuals, and gaining weight is just one potential symptom that could indicate hormonal imbalance. Shaming individuals for their choices, whether taking or not taking HRT, is not helpful. Instead, education and open discussions about menopause, including its challenges and embarrassing symptoms, are essential to reduce shame and discomfort. Foundational work, such as addressing lifestyle factors, is crucial to ensure a positive long-term outcome with HRT or any other hormonal treatment. Lifestyle medicine, which includes allopathic, alternative, and lifestyle approaches, should be a part of the discussion for managing hormonal issues effectively.

    • Integrating lifestyle medicine into preventative healthcareEmbrace a holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on complexities of life and connecting people to valuable information. Chili Pad is one simple yet effective solution for sleep enhancement and menopause symptoms.

Integrating lifestyle medicine into preventative healthcare is crucial. The allopathic medical approach often limits conversations to one problem and relies heavily on randomized controlled studies, but real life is messy. We need to be the voice for those who may not have the opportunity to access good information and broaden the conversation beyond narrow variables. A personal example of this is the use of Chili Pad for sleep. Initially skeptical, I've come to appreciate the benefits of lowering body temperature to enhance sleep and making mornings easier. The Chili Pad allows individual temperature control for both partners, making it a game changer for my menopause symptoms. In essence, we need to embrace a more holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on the complexities of life and connecting people to valuable information. The Chili Pad is just one example of a simple yet effective solution that can significantly improve overall well-being.

    • Managing hormones during the follicular phaseConsuming bitter greens, beets, maintaining daily bowel movements, and considering longer fasts during the follicular phase can help manage estrogen levels and potentially increase testosterone.

During the follicular phase of a woman's menstrual cycle, focusing on consuming bitter greens and beets, maintaining daily bowel movements, and considering longer fasts can help manage estrogen levels and potentially increase testosterone. This phase is characterized by increased energy and flexibility, and may also be a time for heightened libido and attraction. Ovulation is a significant time for testosterone production, and there is potential for women to increase testosterone levels through longer fasts during this time. However, more research is needed on the impact of fasting on women throughout their menstrual cycle, as the majority of research has been conducted on men, lab animals, and menopausal obese females. It's important to critically evaluate research and not make assumptions or extrapolate findings from one species to another.

    • Hormonal fluctuations and relationshipsAcknowledging hormonal shifts, particularly testosterone and progesterone, can lead to improved relationships and overall well-being. Being metabolically healthy and making informed diet and lifestyle choices can help manage mood and energy levels during hormonal fluctuations.

Understanding hormonal fluctuations, particularly the role of testosterone and progesterone during a woman's menstrual cycle, can significantly impact relationships and overall well-being. The speaker emphasizes the importance of acknowledging the significance of testosterone in relationships and the potential benefits of being metabolically healthy. Progesterone, which peaks during the luteal phase, is described as a calming hormone that can make us feel mellow and relaxed, but it can also increase insulin resistance and lead to cravings. By recognizing these hormonal shifts, individuals can make informed choices about their diet and lifestyle to improve their mood, energy levels, and overall health. Additionally, tracking menstrual cycles can lead to a better understanding of one's partner's needs and emotions, potentially leading to stronger relationships.

    • Understanding the natural changes in our bodies during menstruationListen to your body's natural responses during menstruation and adapt accordingly, be aware of hormonal imbalances, and consult professionals for personalized advice on fasting.

Our bodies go through various changes during our menstrual cycle, and it's essential to listen to them and adapt accordingly. For instance, before menstruation, our bodies might experience loose stools due to the position of the uterus, and we might feel less motivated for intense workouts. This is not a sign of lack of motivation but a natural response to prepare for potential pregnancy. Additionally, hormonal imbalances, such as low progesterone levels, can impact fertility and overall health. It's crucial to understand the importance of balance in sex hormones and seek professional help when necessary. When it comes to fasting, women's experiences can vary, and the benefits depend on individual goals and body composition. Short-term fasts can be beneficial, but prolonged fasts might not be suitable for everyone, especially those who are already lean. It's essential to consider our unique circumstances and consult with healthcare professionals before making significant lifestyle changes. Overall, our bodies are amazing, and understanding their natural cycles can lead to better health and well-being.

    • Women's unique experiences with fastingWomen should approach fasting with care, awareness, and listen to their bodies. Diverse voices and perspectives are crucial in the fasting community.

Women's experiences with fasting can vary greatly, and it's essential for them to be aware of their bodies and cycles to avoid excessive fasting. Women may experience irregular periods or other health issues if they fast too much. It's crucial to find a balance and listen to one's body. Additionally, women may prefer to hear advice from other women about fasting, as they can better understand the unique challenges and nuances of fasting for women. Women's experiences with fasting change as they age, and it's important to have a diverse range of voices and perspectives in the fasting community. In summary, women should approach fasting with care, awareness, and a willingness to listen to their bodies, and it's important to have more women leaders and voices in the fasting space.

    • Women's unique experiences and perspectives are crucial in the conversation about fasting strategiesWomen should lead the conversation about fasting due to their understanding of menstrual cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, contraception, and aging. Valuable contributions from men are also acknowledged.

Women, with their unique experiences and perspectives, should lead the conversation about fasting strategies due to their understanding of menstrual cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, contraception, and aging. The speaker emphasized the importance of women's voices in this arena, while acknowledging the valuable contributions of men. Regarding the books that have impacted her life, the speaker recommended "The Unhealthy Truth by Robin O'Brien" and "The XX Brain by Lisa Lipsen" for their profound influence on her career and understanding of hormonal impacts on the brain. If she could go back in time, she would advise her 20-year-old self to be patient and appreciate the value of the experiences and lessons that come with time.

    • Living in the Present and Enjoying ExperiencesRegret not enjoying experiences during twenties, encourage travel, fun, and savoring moments. Dream interview: Katie Couric, admire humanity, humanitarianism, and big heart. Crazy health experiment: Coffee enemas. Message for world: Eat less often for improved health and longevity.

Savoring the moment and living in the present is an important lesson to learn during one's twenties. The speaker shares her regret of being too serious during that time and encourages enjoying experiences, traveling, and having fun. A dream interview for her would be Katie Couric, admiring her humanity, humanitarianism, and big heart. The craziest thing she's done for her health is trying coffee enemas.
