Paramount Pictures to revisit 'The Longest Yard' with a new remake

Paramount Pictures to revisit 'The Longest Yard' with a new remake
Paramount Pictures is set to take another shot at remaking the classic sports comedy-drama film The Longest Yard. The original 1974 version, which earned critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination, was a delicate balance of comedy and drama, starring Burt Reynolds as Paul "Wrecking" Crewe, a former football star facing a prison sentence. In 2005, a remake directed by Peter Segal, with Adam Sandler in the lead role, took a lighter, more comedic approach and featured a star-studded cast. Despite its commercial success, Sandler publicly confessed that the remake couldn't hold a candle to the original. Now, Paramount Pictures is giving it another go, led by Gunpowder & Sky’s Van Toffler and former MTV Films boss David Gale, with Rodney Barnes penning the script. The new iteration aims to bring a fresh perspective to this prison football story, offering a unique take on a classic narrative.

    The ABCs Of Salvation:
    A.  ADMIT THAT YOU’RE A SINNER. This is where that godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out.

    B.  BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was.

    C.  CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.

Episode 74: All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989) // You Can't Keep a Good Dog Down!

Sorry for the late upload...long holiday weekend.

Don Bluth films have already been covered on this show before (The Land Before Time) but his work is so good we had to do another one.  This time its All Dogs Go to Heaven.  Featuring a star studded cast that includes Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise, this film hits all the right notes.  It has great music, animal abuse and a touching story.  Take a listen as we go over all the dog gone craziness...heh.  Plus much more!!

    WTF: Deep Fake UFOs

    WTF: Deep Fake UFOs
Recent developments in the world of AI have the good Friar and the Rabbi concerned about the things that might be coming in the future. It's more than just using AI to create deep fakes that offend and outrage. In a politically charged atmosphere, how will you discern truth from the fake? It appears to be open season on UFOs. The Pentagon told us that at least three have now been shot down. West Taiwanese satellites are now being used to put on laser light shows in Hawaii. All that and more Burt Reynolds than you ever wanted this week on What The Frock?

    The Longest Yard (1974)

    The Longest Yard (1974)

The 1970s were a heck of a time.  We go from North Dallas Forty and Nick Nolte to The Longest Yard and Burt Reynolds.  We ask if Paul "Wrecking" Crewe" is a sympathetic character after the cringey first scene.  We also discuss Teen Wolf's dad's hair, Bernadette Peters as "Miss Toot" and we're slightly confused about a new review a fan has given us.  Speaking of, if you haven't rated and reviewed us yet, please do.  It really helps.

Meredith Salenger on ‘Smokey and the Bandit’

Meredith Salenger on ‘Smokey and the Bandit’

It all started in 1979…Meredith Salenger felt seen by the sweet-but-feisty Carrie (aka “Frog”) in SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. And Field’s starring role in NORMA RAE called to her long before she got involved in political fundraising and activism. An actor with a decades-long career, and now the co-host of the podcast ’Did You Get My Text?’ with husband Patton Oswald, she shares how she’s still inspired by these roles of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.

Then,  one quick thing about the 1987 Frankie & Annette film BACK TO THE BEACH. Yes, really.

During this conversation, the FletchCast crew burn enough fuel to go to South America and back with this cinematic treasure.  We speak to him about working with Fletch Lives stars Cleavon Little, Randall Tex Cobb, and R Lee Ermy.  Uhh, Gordo?
