    S06E06: Cold Creek Manor

    S06E06: Cold Creek Manor
Did anybody in this movie...see a movie? Today we're contemplating 2003's Cape Farm, aka Cold Creek Manor, aka 33 1/3 Short Sound Drops That Shouldn't Have Made SDB Laugh. A putative thriller in which Dorff On Golf somehow manages to haul a dead pony into a swimming pool, our "city slicker" hero tries to charm the psychotic locals with Brandy Alexanders, children have eyeteeth the size of quarters, and a cemetery is added to the kids' chore wheel, Cold Creek Manor is mostly bad -- but at least Dennis Quaid doesn't make it any worse, so while you're fleeing the godless city for Sling Blade-on-Hudson, cue up an all-new Quaid In Full. Welcome to the Horror Project Podcast. Join hosts Phil and Laura as they review Robert Rodriguez' From Dusk Till Dawn (1996).

This week on the pod we discuss this bonkers crime thriller/horror mash-up. Quentin Tarantino's razor sharp script vs his "interesting' acting style, the relationship between the Gecko brothers, and George Clooney's star making journey from ER to the most dangerous bar in Mexico the Titty Twister!

Plus we shall be finding a place on the leaderboard for the movie during our Ranking, and discover which character's are taking home the Body-Bag-Award this week for best death.

    Yellowjackets

    Yellowjackets

A deep dive on the best new show we have seen in a long time, the wildly chilling Yellowjackets!
Mahsa and guest-host Mary cover lots of ground, so this is spoiler and speculation heavy - fair warning. From what makes the show resonate with so many people, dream casting scenarios, the most imaginative theories on Reddit (we can agree that Adam isn't Javi though, right!?), to the refreshing diversity, and so much more.
Sometimes a show is internet popular and takes over Twitter and Reddit; other times it's popular because so many people actually watch it. Yellowjackets is that rare combination of both, with the magic of perfect casting and pacing, it's nearly poetic. It's the kind of show you want to dissect; part of the fun is the heavy symbolism and 'what does it mean' of it all.
And it's the perfect vehicle for some of our fave 90's actresses - Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Melanie Lynsky.
Obsessions include the tv show from the 2000's you need to watch if you already miss Yellowjackets, plus Mary's undying love of the Real Housewives multiverse.

Ep. 52: From Dusk Till Dawn

Ep. 52: From Dusk Till Dawn

Zack & Zo go on a most dangerous road trip as they join the infamous Gecko Bros. They'll rob, kidnap and kill to get what they want, and what they want now is to get to Mexico by any means necessary. With a kidnapped family in tow the dastardly siblings take the family's RV on a desperate road trip to a bar full of . . . Vampires. It's a bar full of Vampires, because, even though this recording is being released long after Halloween, Zach & Zo recorded this episode the day before Halloween; therefore, everyone is still very much in the scary movie spirit. This movie is more of an action horror, so it seems like an appropriate transition out of the Halloween season!

Co-host Jamie Roberts and Robert Lendrum cross the border between horror and action when they review the genre-blending classic From Dusk til Dawn (1996). Is George Clooney robbing small banks, or heisting jewels from Constantinople? Should Quentin Tarantino be praised for his acting? What was the point of this movie?

Ma (2019): "The Dick We Deserve"

Ma (2019): "The Dick We Deserve"

Are you ~down to clown~ with Ma (2019)? On a new Spooky Tuesday, we’re taking on the Octavia Spencer original, a must see if only because it is the first film we’ve covered that delivers the nudity we deserve: Luke Evans’ dick. Or possibly a fake dick? We’re investigating that question and more as we weigh in on the movie that launched a thousand memes.

Meet The Author - Joel Miller - Memoir of a Roadie.

078: Is it just me, or did this trip go downhill since we ran out of Lucky Lager? | Kalifornia (1993)

078: Is it just me, or did this trip go downhill since we ran out of Lucky Lager? | Kalifornia (1993)

This film was ALOT. I quickly remembered why I bought this DVD at a video store closing shop ages ago for less than $5. There were so many aspects of this film we forgot about since our recent rewatch. We get into the confusing tone of the story, an undiscovered fashion icon in Michelle Forbes, and literally wonder where this 9 mil budget went.

Off topic rants include bitching about Vogue, stars that aged well, and recent celeb gossip.

Upon Further Review: Natural Born Killers

Why doesn’t Hollywood make more movies with kissin’, like Natural Born Killers?

Once upon a time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino sold his ultra-violent screenplays to the highest bidder. Hand it over to Oliver Stone and what do you get? A head trip satire of televised news media, American culture and our obsession with murder. Juliette Lewis and the bartender from Cheers go on a national tour to express their love for one another with bloodshed, and Aussie Iron Man and Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face (minus the makeup) are there to see s**t go down.
