    Meditation for Overthinkers Like Me

    Meditation for Overthinkers Like Me

Jeanne has struggled with the concept of meditation for 14 years. She explains how her idea of meditation and what meditation was, held her back from enjoying the full benefits of mindfulness and quiet space. Through the years she had to adapt her meditation practice to something that worked for her and fit into her lifestyle. She explores the top 3 things that helped her achieve better results with meditation and how these affected her anxiety levels.

She first looks at guided meditations and explains how these have helped her to relax more easily, and to meditate more successfully. Check out the channels she recommends: Great Meditation, Declutter the Mind and Mini Meds.

Secondly, she looks at the power of noise canceling headphones and how these help her to get to a calmer space while meditating, but also while doing other daily chores. Check out the Sony headphones Jeanne uses  here.

Lastly, she looks at what meditation means to her and that this does not necessarily have to ten minutes of zen pose and deep breathing.

    Dancing Across The Water

    Dancing Across The Water
It happens to be the subject of one of my favorite Neil Young songs, "Cortez The Killer." The year was 1521. The leader of the Conquistadors, Cortez, came dancing across the ocean with his galleon from Spain. He was seeking to meet Montezuma, the leader of the glorious Aztec empire. What happened next is a battle still taking place in each of our lives...500 years later. ***** Join me everyday and explore a style of a meditation that plays like a podcast but creates space for peace and relaxation...my brand new 6 month meditation journey, Into the Mystic, begins today: https://bit.ly/into-the-mysic

This Can't Be Real (but it is)

This Can't Be Real (but it is)
On April 10, 1912, the Titanic went down in the icy Atlantic. You know the story...1,500 went down with the ship But one story you might not know, is a man who survived in the fridgid water for more than 2 hours, before he was rescued. It's virtually impossibile to survive when the water temperature was -2 Celsius. And yet, it happened and this is the story. When you finish, if you are feeling an urge to turn ON your meditation practice, check out my new 6 month meditation journey: https://bit.ly/into-the-mysic

My Life Changing Trip To The Stars

My Life Changing Trip To The Stars
After walking my 3 year old daughter through treatment for leukemia, I was struggling with some intense PTSD. I was always worried. But just as suddenly, I was healed. On my birthday last year, I experienced a macro dose of psilocybin (aka magic mushrooms) under the guidance of a therapist. I found it to be the most profound mental reset, and it endured long after the experience. One year later, this past Thursday, I went back for another psychedelic therapy session. This episode is about my experience. It felt like 25 years of wisdom and healing...in a matter of 5 hours. A Mach 10 trip to another dimension...and back in time to have birthday cake with my wife and children.

The Other F-Word And Why You Need To Have It In Your Life With Katrina Streatfeild

The Other F-Word And Why You Need To Have It In Your Life With Katrina Streatfeild
Have you ever woken up and suddenly realised that you’ve been going through the days on autopilot and something’s missing from your life? Something important?

Recently, I attended a weekend event that combines self-reflection with outdoor activities. It’s the Get A Grip Of The Grind Festival and it’s designed to help women be bold and focus on themselves for a change (instead of everyone else in their lives they are supporting).

I was there to facilitate a couple of workshops, but I also got to participate in the outdoor activities. And I came to a stunning conclusion … I was missing out. There was something in my life that I needed more of and I hadn’t even known it.

Counselling and Clinical Psychologist, Katrina Streatfeild was also at the festival and afterwards I asked her to join me on the podcast and talk about that missing thing and why it’s so important.

Listen in as Katrina explains about the other F-word and why we need more of it in our lives.

Intentionally aligned through meditation: Lianne McAughey

Intentionally aligned through meditation: Lianne McAughey

In this episode, Lianne shares the unique lens that her policing career gave her. She describes how investigating fatal car accidents frequently reminded her how life can truly change in an instant, which led her to be more present and intentional in her day to day life. Lianne talks about how she was so busy doing all the things that she never slowed down, until one day, she sat down for only15 minutes and it felt so good! The next day, she did the same, and then again the next. She talks about how she ended up coming back to a meditation practice that she once had many years ago. She also shares the benefits that have come from this practice and some tips about how to ease into meditation if you have never tried it before or if you want to get back into it.

Lianne is a Productivity and Meditation Coach for Moms and Female Entrepreneurs.  For the last 20 years, Lianne has served her community as a Police Officer in the city of Ottawa and in the province of Ontario. She has recently become a certified meditation teacher. Lianne's mission is to encourage people to stop living on autopilot and to be intentional with the time that they have as she knows that life can change in an instant. Through meditation, Lianne helps her clients release overwhelm and return to live in the present moment so that they can create more time to be who they are meant to be. Lianne serves her clients through her “Intentionally Aligned" coaching program where she leads her clients through 6 weeks of time management, stress reduction and mindfulness.

#26 “I can’t stay, mother” - Soulful Poetry Reading to Nurture Your Heart by Yana Fry

#26 “I can’t stay, mother” - Soulful Poetry Reading to Nurture Your Heart by Yana Fry

As we are approaching the end of 2021, I wanted to record this episode saying something important to you, something wise, something that will change your life… I reflected on what to say, I meditated on it, I journaled… and then I realized that so many beautiful, powerful, wise, lifechanging things have already been said before me, have been already written… and all what I have to do is to find them and to read them to you. So, I did some research and selected this poem by Sanne Burger that resonates greatly with my heart. Today I will read it to you. All what you have to do is relax, close your eyes and simply allow your soul to speak to you through these words…

    I can’t stay, mother
I love you, but I wasn’t born to please you
I wasn’t born to make you happy
    or give your life meaning
I wasn’t born to rot under your wings
    like an unhatched egg

    I can’t stay, teacher
I wasn’t born to be put into your boxes
    to think along your lines
    or to memorize your facts
I was born to think independently

    I can’t stay, my love
I wasn’t born to satisfy your needs
    to take care of you
or to hide in your arms
I wasn’t born to make myself smaller
or to be taken for granted

    I can’t stay, boss
I wasn’t born to make money for others
I wasn’t born to follow orders
or to repeat the same day over and over again
    I wasn’t born for boredom

    I can’t stay, master
I wasn’t born to follow your ideas of what truth is
or to live according to your dogmas
I was born to find my own truth
    and make my own rules

I was born to meet life full on
To get lost on Andean trails
To be seduced by mysterious men
To meet different faces, places and cultures
to be out in the jungle all night
    To run with wolves
To be swept off my feet
    To be taken by storm
    To be heartbroken
    Devastated
    Stunned
    Shocked
    Lost
    Thrown into the deep

I was born to get my hands dirty
To get sand in my mouth
    Mud on my clothes
    Thorns under my feet
I was born to jump into the abyss

I was born to meet aliens
    To do rituals
To be cracked open in ceremony
To go beyond time and space
    To welcome magic
    To totally lose myself

I was born to feel everything
    To taste everything
    The bitter taste of sorrow
    The foul taste of deceit
    The sweet taste of love

I was born to learn how to handle change gracefully
I was born to know the truth
    to learn how to fly

I was born to learn how to speak the language of love
    How to unchain my heart
    How to shed everything
How to let go of all expectations
I was born to learn how it feels to lose everything
    except what really matters
I was born to live a life that would strip away everything that wasn’t real
    that wasn’t true
    that wasn’t me

    I am a phoenix
I am born to spread my wings and fly towards the sun
To burn up and turn to ashes
To fall down to earth and rise up again

    When I am old
I will be proud of my scars
    My wrinkles
    My memories
    My stories
    My wisdom
    My freedom

I was born to be free
    And therefore, I can’t stay

    #8 “Inner Peace” Guided Meditation

    #8 “Inner Peace” Guided Meditation

Sometimes there are days when everything goes NOT the way you have planned - people don’t do what you want them to do, things don’t come together the way you expect them to come together, and you yourself are not at your best on such day… Especially during these kinds of days it is very important to come back home to yourself and restore your equilibrium. Regardless of what is happening around you, you can always tap into your Inner Peace. This is exactly what we are doing with this meditation.

Get yourself a cup of tea, keep your mind open and get ready for a deep dive into the Truth.
