Imagine going through the pain of losing two closed loved ones in your life within a very short time. Kendra Von Esh has experienced two sudden losses within less than 2 months, and she's thankful for your support and prayers.

Kendra, grappling with the sudden departure of her beloved husband and the recent passing of her father, shared a heartfelt testament to the transformative power of faith, prayer, and community support in the darkest hours.

Kendra's journey of loss began with her father's departure on Christmas Day, a time of profound sorrow that deepened with the unexpected loss of her husband to a coronary blood clot. This double blow could have shaken anyone's faith to its core. Yet, Kendra's response was not of anger but of a profound turning towards God, inspired by her mother's wisdom to seek God's goodness in every trial.

In her time of need, Kendra reached out to the Morning Air family and experienced an outpouring of love and support that illuminated the power of communal prayer. Her story is a vivid reminder of how, even in the deepest sorrow, we are never alone. Kendra's resilience and unwavering faith highlight a profound message: God's grace is ever-present, especially in moments of profound loss. Her experience underscores the beauty of the Catholic community—where prayers, support, and love flow abundantly, reminding us of the healing power of faith and the importance of praying for our loved ones, both present and departed.

Episode 45 - Focus, Focus, Focus! John 21

After Jesus' resurrection, He appears to some of His disciples on the beach of the Sea of Galilee. Peter is so excited to see Jesus, he runs in hauling a huge net of fish all by himself. But his exuberance is soon squelched when Jesus tells him of the death he will soon face. Peter takes his focus off of Jesus and falls. What is this exchange all about and what do Jesus' Words to Peter say to us?

In this episode, we look at another puzzling quote from Jesus. When debating with the Sadducees, Jesus tells them when we rise from the dead, we will be like the angels. What did Jesus mean by this? Will we have wings? Will we be fierce looking? Will we all be males? Since we will no longer be married to our spouse, will we be sad? "All Out War In The Streets of Chicago" - w/ Julio Mercado

"All Out War In The Streets of Chicago" - w/ Julio Mercado

Julio Mercado joins me on this week’s podcast episode. Julio grew up in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. He was raised in a loving home with both his parents in the picture.  His neighborhood is surrounded by gangs and drug dealing and early into his teen years he finds himself able to stay away from those things. Sports become an outlet for him and help keep him busy and out of trouble. One day on his way to the Boys & Girls Club he is confronted by gang members from the opposite side of where he lives. They question him about his gang affiliation and they are not convinced that he is not a gang member. A group of them decide to jump him and begin to beat him. After this encounter, Julio walks back to where he lives and joins his local neighborhood gang within hours of his beating. Full of anger and rage,  a violent side of him is awakened and unleashed. He wages all out war on those who attacked him. This one moment for ever changes the course and destiny of his life. Frequent gun violence, beatings, deaths and drug dealing become the norm and he feels right at home in this environment. The devil grabbed a strong hold of this man and didn't want to let him go. Tune in to hear how one man was finally able to escape from the all out war in the streets of Chicago.

    Episode 099 - Barron Ryan

Classic Meets Cool on today's podcast.  Today's guest finished a composition a lyricist/musician had composed for his wife prior to his death, but it took 40 years before it was brought to life.  The composer was Don Fagin, who passed away in 1981—six years before today's guest was even born. Don's wife became friends with my guest and she had him look through Don's files.  The end result is a book and a beautiful song called, "Honey, If It Wasn't For You." My guest is a pianist, composer, and one of Smithsonian Magazine’s 10 Innovators to Watch in 2021. He's Barron Ryan, Someone You Should Know.

Welcome to 15 minute free thinking. My name is Carpo,  and my podcasts are  intended to serve as a learning tool for myself and others, as well as a bridge for communication between a society I see as having more potential than we are allowing ourselves to use. We are all just people, living as best we can, and I feel good dialogue can really help us lead better lives.

If you are interested in joining the discussion, visit me on Youtube, discord, or patreon, of which I will have more information about at the end of the podcast.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen, wherever you may be, and I hope you enjoy the show.

Many of these ideas are merely my own opinions. Any mention of substance use or my experiences should not be taken as advice, as what works for me may not work for you. Each of us is unique. I'm just some dude on the internet. But I am a dude that cares about the Truth. And I can admit when I do not know, and more importantly, when I am wrong.

I am just here learning like the rest of you all and want to share my experiences.

I try to stick to the facts where possible, but that is not always easy when we speak of complex matters, so I may make mistakes, but always try my best to present accurate, honest information to the best of my ability.

That said a lot of it may be conjecture and my own opinion.... and as I learn, I adjust my list of facts, so feel free to point out wherever I may be lacking, or have the wrong information.

So with that out of the way, let's get into it.

    The Profound Influence of Trauma

    The Profound Influence of Trauma

Ever grappled with life's rock-bottom moments, only to find an inner strength you never knew existed? This is a common thread in our lives, and in this heartfelt episode, Tina and Ann pull back the curtain on our personal trials and tribulations - from the arduous journey of healing our own life's scars to navigating our children's challenges. We strip away the gloss to reveal the raw realities, exhaustion, and pain that comes with healing and how essential it is to carve out time for self-care in the midst of it all.

Imagine being just 11, facing an event so impactful it imprints on your entire life. This is Ann's reality, and in the second segment of our episode, we lay bare the profound influence of trauma - the fear of success, the ripple effects on those around us, and the complex navigation when there is barely any time to process it. Through our stories, we hope to shed light on the often misunderstood landscape of trauma and how we can stop short of success because of the trauma we have endured in our past.

Healing is the theme that ties the knots of our conversation. We pour out our hearts on the healing journey, embracing compassion, acknowledging the Herculean effort it takes to bring about change, and the importance of gifting time to ourselves in this journey, even when roadblocks appear. Our conversation is an affirmation that it's perfectly okay to feel stuck or frustrated at times, and that healing is indeed a lifelong voyage. So grab your headphones, and let's sail through these winds of challenges together.

Quote; "Most of die before we fully live." Erich Fromm
Quote: If I had to choose between pain and death, I would choose pain." William Faulkner, The Wild Palms

Quote from Tina: "What if we were transparent about our own failures? Not as some kind of performative vulnerability, but as an invitation to collectively de-stigmatize the messy process of lifelong learning. Think about that."

Thank you all for listening and your support.

Pema Düddul: The Tibetan Book of the Dead in the 21st Century - Part 2

Today's episode is a continuation of Tsultrim's conversation with Dr. Pema on the Tibetan Book of the Dead, how we can apply some of its techniques to our daily lives as a way of living our best life and how it can help us to prepare for when death comes.

Pema tells us more about impermanence, rebirth and the type of meditation encouraged by Padmasambhava, the author of this profound and ancient book.  Dr Pema explains how this information and these techniques are neither difficult to understand nor to apply and can be utilized by anyone, anytime.

Calm and Balance in the Heart of a Tornado

Calm and Balance in the Heart of a Tornado

This week’s episode is a little different as Tina and Ann discuss the cycle of life–Life's ups and downs and the simplicities and complexities of merely existing.

Tina shares some of the most heartbreaking and simultaneous joyous times and a counselor’s reaction to her pain.  Listen as the pair dissect a painfully real situation, the role of a counselor and what happens when we take on that tough role of caregiver for our parents. Ann discusses how the complexities of relationships can add to a death and shares the death of her own adopted mother. They continue to talk about their thoughts on stages of grief and talk about a quote from the book, A Grace Disguised by Jerry Sittser, “There is no point in comparing loss because loss is loss.”

Ann shares the meaning of the tattoo she got after the death of her mom and states, “Life is a series of ups and downs and complexities and simplicities. And honestly, I want to choose the simple. Life is painful. That is a fact. But simplicity helps that pain. It brings back what life is all about and brings us to a life of closeness and beauty in the pain.

There is so much involved when it comes to the ups and downs of being in a family. Finding that balance between ourselves, our kids, and taking care of our parents can be very difficult but needed. Ann discusses how her life was changed in her recent trip to Tennessee.

Today’s quote:  You want a person in your life you can trust, when you can’t trust yourself.”

Chasing the Monster’s Away lyrics by James Blunt are mentioned.

A grace Disguised by Jerry Sittser  is talked about. "There is no point in comparing loss because loss is loss"

Lion King and Charlotte's Web is mentioned.
Housewives Franchise and Vanderpump Rules is mentioned.
