    Are You Planning Your Vacation?

    Are You Planning Your Vacation?

    Well, it is a sudden end to Season 6 of “That They May All Be One”…but for very purpose of declaring the praises of the LORD JESUS CHRIST!

    The main message I always want people to hear is the gospel, the very best news ever!  Regardless if you are a non-believer or a believer (especially a believer) the gospel is great amazing eternal news!!!!

    This last episode of season 6 I make a comparison of planning a vacation to seeking the Kingdom of GOD.

    Take time to watch or listen…it could save your life!

    Philippians 3:10–14 (NASB95): 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;
     11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
     12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
     13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
     14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

    Luke 14:26–30 (NASB95):  26 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.
     27 “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
     28 “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?
     29 “Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him,
     30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ “

    Why Church Then?

    Why Church Then?

    A couple of videos ago I did the topic of Church Membership. I looked at is it Scriptural to have membership in a local congregation based on a formal process which has at its core an individual (s) sign a document stating they adhere to the polity of that congregation and/or denomination.

    What we found, by Scripture alone, is there is nowhere where a formal process is required or even necessary.  Indeed, the setting up of a formal process and declaration could and often does lead to hypocrisy. I, for one, have had this occur to me several times. As an evangelist called and appointed by GOD and confirmed by the unsolicited commissioning of the local church (Pastor, deacons by prayer and laying on of hands) I have had numerous times where churches will say they will pray for me but can’t support me because I don’t belong to their denomination.

    Well, the question could and should be asked, “why church then?” Why should we gather together as a “church” if membership is not a necessary issue? There are many reasons why. In this video I examine but a few. Yes - it is extremely important to gather together in a local congregation!!!!! Make no mistake, if you say you’re a follower of the LORD JESUS CHRIST and have no desire to be with other saints…there is a problem!

    Join with me now as we examine why church.

    A special shout out to a brother and sister in CHRIST who provided the new A/V equipment! The sound is amazing! I praise the LORD JESUS for putting in their hearts to minister to UCJ in this way! Praise the LORD JESUS!

    E29: New Rules: Leading through Crisis & Resilience as a Gift

    Is resilience a gift or a curse?

    We must first define what it truly means to be resilient and identify the ways that culture has misrepresented what it means.

    Resilience, a term that is often used in the context of facing life's adversities and challenges, prompts a deep examination regarding its nature and impact on individuals.

     In Episode 29 of the New Rules Podcast, we take a practical look into how being resilient can be the most challenging, yet rewarding component of our lives.

    We’ll examine:

    • How coming back to your authentic form is the true definition of resilience

    • Why our culture is prone to lack resilience

    • The importance of knowing your values

    • Choosing a life surrounding what’s important to you

    • The importance of checking your motives throughout daily life

    • Why you must face reality in order to grow from experiences

    Solving Fear of Change with David Valovcin

    Children's books have a special magic, don't they? Today, we're thrilled to have David Valovcin, a children's author and software engineer, sharing his journey with us. His debut book 'A Desk to Lean On' speaks to children about the fear of change—an important theme in today's fast-paced world. David's faith and family, his pillars of strength, can be seen reflected in his work, and his experience with writing the book provided some fascinating insights.

    Did you know that crafting words for a children's book requires a particular finesse? In our chat with David, we delve into the mechanics of writing and publishing a book—the nuances of language, the collaboration with an illustrator, and the role of outlining methods. If you're an aspiring author, you'll appreciate the practical advice David shares. The conversation doesn't stop at writing; we also talk about book reviews, their importance, and where they can make the most impact.

    Finally, we discuss David's exciting upcoming book and the lessons he's carrying forward from his debut publication. As a bonus, we spotlight the Writer's Parachute website, a goldmine for authors seeking information and support. So, whether you are an author, a parent, or a lover of children's books, join us for this enlightening journey with David Valovcin. You'll leave with a newfound appreciation for the art and joy of children's literature.

    David Valovcin considers his faith and family to be the most important parts of his life.  When he is not staring at his computer screen while working as a financial services technologist, David can be found playing with his daughter and taking family trips to the local bookstore.  He also does not mind bending to the will of his daughter and adores her every second of every day.
    David lives in Connecticut with his loving wife, Laura, and their beautiful daughter, Grace.
    A Desk To Lean On is his first children's book.

    ARE YOU THE FATHER YOU NEED TO BE?

    ARE YOU THE FATHER YOU NEED TO BE?

    Father involvement is defined as men's “positive, wide-ranging, and active participation in their children's lives,” building of social capital, or how fathers provide a support network for children as they grow up to contribute to society.
    Father involvement means:
    • direct interaction between a father and child;
    • accessibility, or how available a father is to his child when needed;
    • responsibility, or managing and providing resources for a child (doctor’s appointments, supplementing family income or child support);
    • building of social capital, or how fathers provide a support network for children as they grow up to contribute to society.
    More than anything in the world, children want their parents’ attention and love. Further, research shows that when children receive positive attention from and healthy interaction with their parents, they do better in all aspects of their lives (home, school, work, etc.) than children who do not receive this attention. This occurs regardless of how much money they have or the type of neighborhood they live in.
    So remember, being a good father doesn’t mean making sure your child has all the best toys or lives in the best neighborhood. It means making sure your child has all the benefits of having you in his or her life.

    Why God Is Not Your Father

    Most of us probably grew up with the notion that God is an old white man, with flowing hair and a beard, who we refer to as Father. Elane and Benton talk about God as paternal figure, and why it’s useful to try on new ideas.

    Mary Lovell- 100 years old, Kappa Kappa Gamma, PEO, PE

    Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Mary Lovell who will turn 100 on February 23. She lives at Clatsop Retirement Village in Astoria where Judy Atkinson joined me to record this interview.

    Mary has lived an interesting life and doesn’t look a day over 80. She shares about growing up in Astoria, going to University of Oregon, being a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and PEO Chapter FE which she helped begin. She tells about her memories of living through the great depression, getting married before she finished her teaching degree, then becoming an aide at Astor School to teach PE and work in the library. She played organ at Grace Episcopal Church for the youth choir and has attended all of her adult life. Her family see her as "being brave, intelligent, with a great ear for music and a wonderful sense of humor.”
