Miami Blues (1990)
The boys join Alec Baldwin in a life of crime in 90's Miami. Between gaslighting a girlfriend, killing people by breaking their fingers, and losing our false teeth, we get distracted by pre-chewing food, the humility that comes with bib-wearing, and desserts that make your pee stink, but mostly we're surprised by just how great this movie is. Seriously it's so fun. Go watch it.

Equinox feat. Jason Miller
New York-based film writer Jason Miller joins to discuss the strange, beautiful cinematic worlds of the unsung Alan Rudolph and his 1992 film 'Equinox' starring Matthew Modine as identical twin brothers separated at birth.
We begin with a discussion of Rudolph's career, beginning as an assistant director to the great Robert Altman before branching out and producing some of the most compellingly idiosyncratic films of the 1980s (as well as his feature 'Remember My Name' from 1978, arguably his greatest work). Then we turn our sights to 'Equinox' and talk about the film's distinctive rhythms and characters as well as the ways Rudolph imbues his fantasy world with a potent naturalism and sense of place. Finally, we discuss the injustice of Rudolph's relative obscurity within cinephile circles, and why the filmmaker's entire body of work is due for a necessary and urgent reappraisal.
We're committed to getting 'Equinox' in front of as many eyes as possible! Email us at hitfactorypod@gmail.com for more info.

Tremors (1990) - Full Review - Special Guest - DAMO GILES
Episode 17 - Since the 1950's people have been obsessed with creature feature films, with that decade being a highlight for the genre. B Grade movies are a special treat for those who love their movies with a side order of schlock. Made famous in Drive Ins the B Grade movie has a special place in cinema lore and when done well can be amazing. Tremors is a B Grade movie with an identity crisis, it seems to think that its A Grade fair and i must say, it's hard to argue. With a great ensemble cast including Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward and Michael Gross this slick screenplay is a guilty pleasure to be enjoyed by the whole family. With a special guest in the Panic Room - DAMO GILES - this is a step outside the norm for the team but a welcome one. If you haven't seen Tremors, do yourself a favour and hunt it down NOW!
Tremors (1990): "Marga-REBA-ville"
We’d like to tell you we don’t spend our entire Tremors (1990) episode talking about a single mom who works two jobs (who loves her kids and never stops), but if we did, we’d be lying. On our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we may have gotten a little swept up in the hype of a certain country music star turned silver screen siren. That said, we did also find some time to discuss OT3s, creative new curse words, the merits of pole vaulting, and new restaurant franchise ideas (oops, that one’s Reba again!).

Tremors - Episode 94
When writers S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock were working as editors for the United States Navy while helping to produce educational videos, they had a thought while standing on top of a boulder in the middle of the desert — what if there was something underground that prevented them from actually getting off this rock?
That spawned an idea for a monster movie about creatures that swim around under the dirt. The original working title was “Land Sharks” but that had to change thanks to a “Saturday Night Live” skit of the same name.
They eventually teamed up with director Ron Underwood, who had previously worked with National Geographic and he had a better understanding about the kinds of creatures that could potentially haunt this movie script.
After the writing duo received rave reviews for their film “Short Circuit,” they immediately began shopping around a new idea about some gigantic, underground worms that attack a small town called Perfection in the middle of nowhere Nevada.
In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to take photos with the Graboids and pole vault across some boulders as we look back at the 1990 cult classic “Tremors”…

...about Thunderheart & Incident At Oglala (1992)
Watching this narrative/documentary double feature from Michael Apted about the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the 1970’s (both featuring John Trudell) should be a Thanksgiving ritual!
Thunderheart: Directed by Michael Apted. Starring Val Kilmer, Graham Greene, John Trudell, Sam Shepard, Fred Ward, Sheila Toussey & Ted Thin Elk
&
Incident At Oglala: Directed by Michael Apted. Narrated by Robert Redford. Featuring; John Trudell, Leonard Peltier & William Kunstler
How is the world wrong about this film?
From Andras: Since around the time these films came out I’ve practiced my own addition to the Thanksgiving holiday. I call it Guiltfast. From sundown the night before Thanksgiving to sundown the day of, I fast, and think about the legacy of the European invasion of the “Americas”. Michael Apted’s films about the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and the case of Leonard Peltier should be a part of your ritual of thanks. And if he isn’t already, John Trudell, his work and words, should be a part of your American historical and literary curriculum.
