    55- Feeling Violated

Have you ever been violated, betrayed, lied to, stolen from, or scammed? If so, you'll most likely experience various emotions ranging from anger, shame, powerlessness, fear, distrust, etc. On this week's show, Del and Barry share their experiences of having been violated and how they recovered from the emotional aftermath. It's important to not blame ourselves. Instead, honor all the feelings that arise and not judge yourself for them. The more we allow our emotions to flow, the quicker they pass, so we can regain a sense of power and control over our lives.

Episode 275 - Brian Boecker, "Navigating the Valley: How Lament and Grief Lead Us to Encounter God's Presence"

Episode 275 - Brian Boecker, "Navigating the Valley: How Lament and Grief Lead Us to Encounter God's Presence"

"But here's the beautiful part - God honors our honesty and vulnerability. Lament and grief are invitations to draw closer to Him." - Michael John Cusick

Welcome back to another episode of "Restoring the Soul with Michael John Cusick". In today's episode, titled "Navigating the Valley: How Lament and Grief Lead Us to Encounter God's Presence," Michael and Brian Boecker delve into the profound topic of grief and lament.

They begin by examining Psalm 88, an intense Psalm that expresses the psalmist's anguish and feelings of abandonment by God. God honors our honesty and vulnerability, even in moments of anger and confusion toward Him. They also discuss the invitation to grieve and engage in lament as a means of intimacy and trust with God. Pulling from various sources, including Walter Brugeman's books on the Psalms and lament, we learn that lament is a form of worship, allowing us to bring our hearts before God.

Join us as we welcome and engage with our suffering, embracing the paradox of suffering and resurrection and seeking to be hospitable to our pain. Prepare for a thought-provoking and soul-stirring conversation that will challenge and encourage you on your faith journey.

    Breaking the Cycle of Powerlessness

    Breaking the Cycle of Powerlessness

Let me ask you this: How often do you feel powerless on any given day—overwhelmed by obligations and unrealistic expectations, stuck in situations that feel impossible to change, or victimized by people or emotions you can’t control?

Yet, throughout all that, we are born with unlimited potential to grow, adapt, and succeed, in effect, making us innately powerful.

Just the fact that we learned how to crawl and then walk and that we developed skills to relate to the world around us proves that we are innately powerful.

So, when and how, for some of us, do we or did we end up losing our power? In today’s episode, we will explore further with Amal.

BONUS 4 - Amanda Valantine | Hope Worth Repeating - John Baker

Life happens. Healing is ours for the choosing. We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve brought pain on ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. As a result, every single one of us ends up with some kind of “hurt, hang-up, or habit”.  Where do we go from here?

Amanda Valantine is back for her weekly episode of the Hope Worth Repeating podcast. In this episode, she is discussing John Baker’s book, "Life’s healing Choices: Freedom from Your Hurts, Hang-Ups, and Habits."

Amanda shares of a spiritual awakening in author, John Baker’s life. After he felt God lead him to Alcoholics Anonymous for his own fight as a “functional alcoholic,” he saw an opportunity to bring support to churches by founding Celebrate Recovery in 1991. Now he is sharing the principles of Celebrate Recovery in this hope-filled and practical book that will help you see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Even when we feel we have exhausted all resources for life change, THERE IS HOPE! Listen as Amanda provides you with some insight into the book and some encouraging words that will remind you of God’s grace and unconditional love on your healing journey.

    Honesty-RecoveryFit Podcast - 2021

    Honesty-RecoveryFit Podcast - 2021

What is your definition of Honesty? Are you honest with others? But more importantly are you honesty with yourself?  We are not referring to the "I shall not tell a lie" type of Honesty but more-so the Adherence to the Truth version of the term.  Rick Hagaman discusses and shares how the application of the principle of Honesty can have a tremendous effect on our progress, growth, and evolution (recovery). Honesty can be truly transformational when I apply "Objective Honesty" to myself but... without judgement.  On the other hand, the tainted and possibly dishonest view  I have of myself can be a barrier to my growth as a person. Untainted & objective honesty can lead to uncovering these barriers so that I can then apply further recovery principles and; therefore, Solution. Without the ability to examine these areas in need, I may remain mired in dysfunction and pain. Rick shares productive methods in which one can apply honesty and how Honest evaluation without judgement can lead to freedom and recovery.
