Bert gets me excited about cold brew in this episode as we discuss his San Franciscan SF6 Roaster, inflation, and business. This episode was highly motivating for me and really put some things in perspective.  I appreciate Bert's transparency and openness in sharing his lessons learned and knowledge. Individuals like Bert are what makes this coffee industry so unique. Thanks for coming on the show my friend and I am looking forward to stopping by next time I am passing through Alabama!

I had the pleasure of speaking with a marvelous coffee roaster from Shanghai China. How Much Does It Cost To Start a Custom Coffee Trailer - Abide Coffee Co. - Nate Ghoens (Ep. 22)

I had a blast speaking with my old buddy about the coffee trailer he and his wife just started. Although he does not roast coffee yet I wanted to have Nate on because I feel starting a coffee trailer or cart is great for coffee roasters who want to start selling their own coffee. Nate was very generous in providing his figures and numbers on how much it costs to start a coffee trailer and also how much you can make with a coffee trailer.  For me, it was highly motivating to hear about his journey. I am in the process of following this path and it is nice to hear others' experiences. It was also nice reconnecting with an old friend and overall things, because of coffee!  Best of luck to you brother!

Please go and follow Abide Coffee Co. and if you are ever in the Destin, Florida area look them up.

How "NOT" to Start a Coffee Shop - Time to Pivot - Rob Pirie Ep. 21

How "NOT" to Start a Coffee Shop - Time to Pivot - Rob Pirie Ep. 21

Things do not always go the way you planned but sometimes that may not be a bad thing.  Learning to accept the setbacks can be tough especially when you poured your heart and soul out for a dream that falls short of working out. We always see the success stories displayed on YouTube and the other social media platforms but I feel obligated to tell the humbling stories as well. Those moments in life that crush you and make you feel trapped.

I am very excited to be marching in this new direction and look forward to bringing you along the journey!

Head up, keep moving forward, smile, and never stop learning!

Quitting a Job and Going ALL in at 36 - Mill City Roasters, Fear, and Growing Pains - (Ep. 20)

Scott Thomas with Freedom Hill Coffee Roasters has been a major motivation for me over the past few months. I remember sitting in the truck at my work's parking lot about 2 years ago listening to Scott tell me about his dream of starting a coffee roastery.  I provided what little info I knew at the time and then off he went. Fast forward 2 years and he has a 10kg roaster in a 10,000 sqft facility and employees.  His story is inspiring to me because it just goes to show that if you have the mindset and willpower to make a dream come true then all it takes is a belief in yourself and consistent daily action to make it a reality.

Thanks so much for coming on the show Scott.

El Salvador: Never to Young To Start - Mathias Sauerbrey - Coffee Republic (Episode 7)

Mathias was one incredible person to speak with. The focus and drive he has at such a young age are mind-blowing. It is never too early to start chasing a dream and I am honestly jealous of the maturity and ambition he has achieved so early in life. A go-getter mindset coupled with the entrepreneur spirit is something I admire in people.  I loved hearing Mathias's story and hearing about his grandparent's coffee farm in El Salvador and how he is giving back to them by creating his company from the ground up. The El Salvadorian country, culture, and people seem very special and you can tell in his voice how much he cares.  Mathias was not shy about his views and I loved that about him as well.

I hope the fire in your soul never fades away buddy! Truly appreciate you sharing your journey with me!

"Ecuador: The Coffee Origin You Should Know About" Martín Granda - Siempre Verde Farm (Episode 2)

In this episode we speak with Martín Granda from Siempre Verde Farm. He is a coffee producer from Ecuador and I had a great time speaking with him. He was very knowledgeable about the coffee practices down there and we dove deep into the fermentation type of processing that they do. He surprised me with how many crops they grow and "Ferns" actually being their main one hence the name of their farm "Always Green".  He details how they initially got into specialty coffee and goes back into the history of his grandparent's experience with coffee farming.

Martín is was one of those people I could "talk coffee" with for hours. I really enjoyed this conversation and look forward to meeting him at his farm one day. I hope you enjoy his story as much as I did. Amazing dude for sure! Go check out his coffee and contact him below if you are interested in buying any.

First of all, I want to give a big shout-out to Nate for being my first guest! I was nervous and after the audio failed me I was pretty stressed.  Being in business and knowing how things go he quickly put me to ease and was super chill about it all. Could not have asked for a better guest to begin this journey with.

Nate is one of the owners of Reve Coffee Roasters and Reve Coffee Lab which is one of the cutting-edge coffee roasteries and shops in Louisiana.  He started this journey when he was 21 after quitting college.  I love hearing stories like that. Bucking the waves and chasing your dream.  I can't wait to have him on again later down the road and see what they are up to. Hope you enjoyed the listen!
