60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What Do You Do When You’re Unsure of the Way Forward?

60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What Do You Do When You’re Unsure of the Way Forward?

Hello to you listening in  Kokomo, Indiana!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Each year at this time my Camino de Santiago memories come to life as I retrace my pilgrimage steps through the pages of my journal. Why this annual ritual? It’s a witness to my life: how I lived life before Camino and living it after Camino.

In truth I want to relive the memories like strolling down a cobblestone village street, entering a small bar for a glass of vino tinto, and savoring it outside with a view of the Meseta, the vast plains I traversed. I recall an elderly gentleman joining me, finding peace in the Meseta's tranquility. After returning my glass the bar owner proudly displayed a yellowed article: the Tempranillo he served me had earned recognition in The Wine Enthusiast. He was so proud of what he had produced in his vineyards.

I revisit these experiences because they’ve become a guide emphasizing the wisdom of looking back when unsure of the way forward. Looking back at where you’ve been can reveal the future of where you should go.

Question: How do you reflect on the past to navigate your future? And, if you could use a guide what’s your project? How can I help?

You’re always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!

Wines To Find, Ep 189: From Vineyard to Winemaking With Traslanzas's Husband and Wife Team

Wines To Find, Ep 189: From Vineyard to Winemaking With Traslanzas's Husband and Wife Team

Imagine strolling through lush vineyards, basking in the Spanish sun, and tasting some of the most exquisite wines in the world. That's precisely the charming experience we had on our recent journey to Cigales, Spain, where we visited Traslanzas owned by the husband and wife team of Carlos and Maria. Carlos handles the vineyard, while Maria makes the wine  in a lovely combination of both their skills.

We dined with them, explored their vineyards, and savored the delightful flavors of their wines. Especially intriguing were Maria's insights on the two types of rosés they produce - the deep-toned classic rosé and the lighter Provençal rosé. Their wine journey started in 1998 with red wines, later branching out to the classic rosé composed of an 80% Tempranillo and 20% Albillo blend.

We also ventured into an  exploration of the secrets behind their vineyards and the traditional winemaking process they adhere to which culminates in the distinctive flavor profiles of their wines.

One of the highlights was discussing the Traslanzas red wine, purely crafted from Tempranillo harvested from a 78-year-old vineyard, manually picked and aged in oak. It truly was a fascinating deep dive into Spanish wine culture and a sensory journey we cannot wait to share with you, so pour yourself a glass and join us today!

Spain Uncorked: The Enchanting Wine Regions of Spain with Elisa Errea

Spain Uncorked: The Enchanting Wine Regions of Spain with Elisa Errea

Spain is considered an “old world wine region” — a blend of tradition and innovation where superb quality goes hand in hand with unparalleled value. Working with indigenous grape varieties, winemakers craft robust reds, crisp whites, lively sparklers and world-renowned fortified wines. Spanish wines have a classification system based on the "Denominación de Origen" (also known as a "D.O." or designation of origin) that indicates where the wine was produced. In this episode, we're joined by Elisa Errea as we look at seven enchanting wine regions across Spain.

This is Spain Uncorked, a Special Miniseries from Wine Pod.

Elisa Errea started her career in wine over twenty years ago, working for the Codorníu group (Export and Winemaking) for 10 years. In 2012 she founded The Wine Studio, an internationally awarded Spanish wine school offering WSET qualifications as well as custom training. She's also a strategic consultant for wineries and institutions as well as a lecturer at different master-level programmes and sommelier degrees. She has designed the current wine programme taught by her team at Le Cordon Bleu Madrid. At an institutional level, she’s Rioja Wine Academy academic advisor and also director of ICEX-Wines from Spain official education programme "Unveiling Spanish Wines."

    Oregon: Abacela Winery

    Oregon: Abacela Winery

Earl & Hilda Jones moved cross-country and chose the rolling hills of Southern Oregon to plant their favorite Spanish varietal Tempranillo. The name Abacela originates from the Latin word Abacelar, which means "to plant a grape vine". In doing so, Earl & Hilda put Tempranillo and Southern Oregon on the map for American wine consumers. In this episode, Brian reconnects with Earl to retrace the history of this iconic Oregon winery.
