#185: Why Would They Lie About That? (Bret Weinstein & Heather Heying DarkHorse Livestream)

    en-usAugust 02, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Discussing COVID-19 and its impact with Seed and Biome sponsorshipsThe August 2023 Dark Horse Podcast featured a narrative style, with sponsors Seed and Biome discussing their products' impact on health and the importance of overall health support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the August 2023 episode of the Dark Horse Podcast, doctors Brett Weinstein and Heather Heine discussed COVID-19 and its ongoing impact on the world. They made a departure from their usual format and introduced a more narrative style. The podcast began with three carefully chosen and vetted sponsors: Seed, Biome, and Paleo Valley. Seed, a probiotic designed to work effectively, was the first sponsor. They discussed the importance of gut health and how it impacts the immune system. Seed's daily synbiotic, a plant-based prebiotic and probiotic, supports gut and skin health and is free from common antigens. Biome, the second sponsor, was introduced with a focus on transparency, safety, and efficacy. They presented Knobs, a new kind of dentifrice, and discussed fluoride as an anti-cavity ingredient. The podcast then delved into the topic of COVID-19, discussing its persistence and the repercussions it continues to have on the world. They also mentioned a potential discussion on music towards the end of the episode. Throughout the podcast, the hosts emphasized the importance of supporting overall health through various means, including prioritizing sleep and using high-quality products like those offered by Seed and Biome.

    • Alternatives to traditional toothpaste and golden milkKnobs toothpaste tablets provide fluoride-free remineralization and eliminate common allergens and harmful additives. Paleo Valley's Superfood Golden Milk offers a delicious, nutritious way to consume anti-inflammatory and antioxidant turmeric and other beneficial ingredients.

Knobs toothpaste tablets offer a fluoride-free, hydroxyapatite-based alternative to traditional toothpastes, providing effective remineralization without the neurotoxicity concerns associated with fluoride. Knobs also eliminates common allergens and harmful additives, such as abrasives, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and microplastics. Its shelf-stable dehydrated tablet form allows for easy travel and eliminates the risk of losing toothpaste during security checks. Additionally, Paleo Valley's Superfood Golden Milk offers a delicious and nutritious way to consume turmeric, a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, along with other beneficial ingredients like ginger, cinnamon, mushrooms, and monk fruit. Both Knobs and Paleo Valley prioritize high-quality, whole ingredients and ethical business practices.

    • Golden milk as an alternative to tea or dairy alternativesStudy found higher rate of transient myocardial injury in women than men after COVID-19 booster vaccine, emphasizing the importance of monitoring vaccine side effects.

While tea is a common beverage choice, golden milk may be a better option for some individuals. The speaker has found that she enjoys golden milk, especially from Paleo Valley, and it can be a delicious alternative to traditional milk or dairy alternatives. The discussion then shifted to a study on sex-specific differences in myocardial injury incidents after receiving a COVID-19 booster vaccine. The study looked at participants who had elevated troponin levels, a marker of heart damage, in their blood after vaccination. Among the 777 participants, 21% had vaccine-associated myocardial injury, with a higher rate in women (3.7%) than men (0.8%). These cases were considered transient, meaning they were mild and temporary. However, the speaker noted that even transient injuries can advance the aging of the heart tissue and exhaust its repair capacity, potentially leading to more serious issues down the line. The study highlights the importance of monitoring and understanding the potential side effects of vaccines, particularly in different populations.

    • Unexpected heart injuries from COVID-19 vaccine boostersStudy finds higher than expected rate of heart injuries from COVID-19 vaccine boosters, even in those who had already recovered from the virus. Damage may not be transient and could lead to cumulative damage with each shot.

The study suggests a higher than expected rate of heart injuries in people who have received booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine, even though most of these individuals had already recovered from the virus without needing the shot. The markers used to detect heart damage indicate damage to the heart, and this damage may not be transient. The cause of this damage is believed to be the result of a large bolus dose of the vaccine entering the bloodstream, which can lead to an "internal burn" in the heart when it is taken up by the immune system. The risk of this happening is present with each shot, making it a lottery-like situation. The background rate of heart injuries is not a minor issue, and even if the vaccine functioned correctly, damage could still occur in areas where it is less harmful. The study raises concerns about the potential for cumulative damage with each shot, and the need for further research to understand the mechanism of action and potential long-term effects.

    • Understanding the Complexity of Vaccine InjuriesWhile the bolus hypothesis explains some vaccine injuries, it's important to consider legal and ethical implications, long-term effects, and differences between vaccine types in the conversation around vaccine injuries.

While the bolus hypothesis may explain some instances of vaccine damage, it is not the only factor, and individuals who have been vaccinated have a right to know about potential harm and ongoing health concerns. The fear of unknown consequences can be debilitating, and it's important to consider the legal and ethical implications of vaccine injuries, particularly in light of the documented fraud surrounding vaccine development and distribution. The long-term effects of subclinical damage are still unknown, and individuals who seem to have gotten away with minimal symptoms should still be vigilant about their health. Additionally, the difference between attenuated virus-based vaccines and mRNA vaccines in terms of potential damage is significant, with mRNA shots having a greater risk of causing widespread damage due to their indiscriminate targeting of cells. Ultimately, the conversation around vaccine injuries requires nuance and careful consideration of both individual and societal implications.

    • MRNA vaccines can cause damage to various tissues including the heartMRNA vaccines provide instructions to make the spike protein, increasing the likelihood of damage to various tissues, including the heart, due to their inherent indiscriminate nature. Long-term effects of multiple inoculations are unknown, and regulators should ensure proper safety measures and placebo controls.

The mRNA vaccines, unlike traditional attenuated virus vaccines, are inherently indiscriminate as they provide instructions to make the spike protein, which can go anywhere in the body. This increases the likelihood of damage to various tissues, including the heart, where the immune system may attack the heart cells. The evolutionary background of the virus used in traditional vaccines limits their damage to specific tissues, as the virus has an interest in spreading to other hosts while keeping the original host intact. However, with mRNA vaccines, this selective pressure is abandoned, leading to potential damage in various tissues. Paul Offit, a vaccine advocate, has been criticized for not acknowledging these potential dangers and not considering the cost-benefit analysis carefully. There have been reports of subclinical injuries to the heart after vaccination, and the long-term effects of multiple inoculations are still unknown. Regulators should take notice of these concerns and ensure that proper safety measures and placebo controls are in place.

    • Potential link between heart conditions and COVID-19 vaccines acknowledgedDr. Paul Offit admits potential link between heart conditions and COVID-19 vaccines, but his statement could be seen as a 'limited hangout' minimizing the significance of potential long-term risks.

Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine advocate, acknowledged the potential link between heart conditions like myocarditis and pericarditis with COVID-19 vaccines. He explained that the spike protein in the vaccines might mimic the heavy chain of actin protein in heart muscle cells, leading to an unintended immune response against the heart cells. Offit's acknowledgement is significant because it validates concerns raised by some about potential autoimmunities and long-term effects of the vaccines. However, Offit's statement could also be seen as a "limited hangout," a term used to describe an admission that reports a truth but minimizes its significance to defuse suspicion. The larger context of the discussion raises questions about why there was a push to vaccinate the population despite potential unknown long-term risks and the demonization of alternative treatments. The hypothesis presented is that pharmaceutical companies, which face significant risks and long development timelines, had a potentially revolutionary solution to difficult medical problems and went to great lengths to promote their vaccines, even if it meant downplaying potential risks.

    • Challenges in ensuring the safety of mRNA vaccines for the heartDespite the success of mRNA vaccines during the pandemic, concerns about potential heart damage and immune responses to the spike protein persist, making it crucial to address these safety concerns for future applications of the technology.

The mRNA technology used in vaccines, while revolutionary, has a significant challenge: any foreign protein introduced into the body will trigger an immune response, potentially damaging healthy cells, including those in the heart. This issue poses a major hurdle for bringing such a technology to market safely. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, emergency use authorizations allowed for the rapid deployment of these vaccines, bypassing some safety regulations. The success of the mRNA vaccines has created a large user base, but concerns about potential heart damage and immune responses to the spike protein persist. It's unclear whether the issue lies with the specific protein or the mRNA platform itself, but evidence suggests both may contribute to damaging heart cells. This raises questions about how to address these concerns and ensure the safety of future applications of this technology.

    • Military's COVID-19 vaccine mandate raised concerns over national security, combat readiness, and moraleThe military's COVID-19 vaccine mandate sparked debates over ethics, necessity, and disciplinary measures, with some criticizing it for being a tool for political conformity and punishing dissent.

The military's implementation of COVID-19 vaccine mandates raised concerns over national security, combat readiness, and morale. However, some argue that the mandate was unnecessary for healthy young people and violated the Nuremberg Code of Ethics due to the vaccines not yet finishing clinical trials at the time. The military's approach to vaccines was criticized for being used as a disciplinary tool to enforce political conformity and punish independent thought and ideological dissent. This exhaustive story revealed that the bullying and coercion over vaccine skepticism, which played out informally in the wider world, took on a more formalized hierarchy in the military, leading some to adopt a drill sergeant approach to getting those below them in line.

    • Military vaccine mandates raise ethical concernsMilitary personnel need to question unethical orders and uphold ethical principles, but vaccine mandates may create a more compliant force, potentially infringing on personal freedoms and ethical principles.

The COVID-19 vaccine mandates in the military raised serious ethical concerns and may have inadvertently created a more compliant military force. This is concerning because military personnel need to be able to question unethical orders and uphold the principles established under Nuremberg. The mandates were part of a pattern of vaccination controversies in the military, with previous examples including the anthrax vaccine during the 1st Gulf War. In that case, soldiers were mandated to take a vaccine that had only been tested for skin exposure, yet was expected to be used against inhalation. The military did not follow proper procedures for informed consent, leading to soldiers being discharged for refusing the vaccine. The current COVID-19 mandates, while not as successful in creating a fully compliant force, still raised concerns about individual autonomy and the potential for future unethical orders. It's crucial that military personnel are aware of their rights and are empowered to question orders that may infringe upon their personal freedoms and ethical principles.

    • Military's Controversial History with Vaccine MandatesThe military's handling of vaccine mandates, from anthrax to COVID-19, has been contentious, with debates over safety, effectiveness, and government profit.

The military's handling of vaccine mandates, specifically with the anthrax vaccine in the early 2000s and the COVID-19 vaccines more recently, has been a subject of controversy and legal challenges. In 2001, then Attorney General of Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, opposed the anthrax vaccine mandate due to concerns about safety, effectiveness, and lack of presidential waiver. Fast forward to 2021, Blumenthal, now a Senator, advocated for COVID-19 vaccines for veterans and all Americans. The anthrax vaccine mandate was eventually thrown out due to a permanent injunction, leading to the creation of the emergency use authorization (EUA) pathway for unapproved biologics in national emergencies. The military resumed anthrax vaccinations on a voluntary basis, and by year's end, the FDA granted full licensure. Some argue that the push for COVID-19 vaccines in the military is driven by profit, as the biotech industry saw an opportunity to tap into government contracts. Additionally, the military's focus on COVID-19 vaccine mandates while providing healthcare for transgender members raises questions about priorities and autonomy.

    • Military's focus on gender transitions raises concernsPolicies supporting gender transitions in military may compromise readiness and morale, affecting the military's ability to defend the republic.

The military's focus on supporting and funding gender transitions for its personnel, despite the potential negative effects on readiness and morale, raises concerns about individual freedom and the military's mission. The military needs a strong, self-sufficient force, and medical interventions and compromises can distract from that goal. The demoralizing effects of these policies, including potential career consequences for those who refuse vaccines or undergo gender transitions without medical necessity, can undermine the military's ability to defend the republic. It's important to consider whether external influences may be driving policies that compromise military readiness and morale, and to affirm the importance of individual freedom and the military's mission. Women, in particular, may need to hear this message more strongly due to their tendency towards agreeableness.

    • Excessive focus on feminizing the military can be detrimentalHistorically, the military values hierarchy and order-following over agreeableness. Masculine traits like competition and pushing each other are essential for understanding comrades' skills and willingness to fight, while hidden competition is dangerous.

Both masculine and feminine traits have their place and value, especially in institutions like the military. However, an excessive focus on feminizing the military, such as increasing compliance and agreeableness, can be detrimental. This is because the military historically requires a hierarchy and the ability to follow orders, but not when they are unethical. Agreeableness, which is more common in women than men, is not what the military needs. Instead, it requires a recognition of hierarchy and the ability to function effectively. Furthermore, the competition in the military should not be cryptic or hidden, but out in the open. Men's competitive behavior, which includes pushing each other and exposing flaws, is character building and essential for understanding one's comrades' skills and willingness to fight. Cryptic competition, on the other hand, is dangerous and counterproductive. Additionally, there is a concern about the exclusion of partially vaccinated people from vaccine efficacy studies, a "cheap trick" that guarantees a conclusion of efficacy. This issue was discussed in a previous livestream and an analysis by professors Martin Neil and Norman Fenton from Queen Mary University of London. It is essential to be aware of such tactics and ensure that scientific studies are conducted ethically and transparently.

    • Misclassifying vaccinated individuals in studies can lead to biasPeer-reviewed studies may overlook biases from misclassifying vaccinated individuals as unvaccinated, potentially giving a false impression of vaccine efficacy

The practice of categorizing vaccinated individuals as unvaccinated during a certain time frame after vaccination can lead to significant bias in studies assessing vaccine effectiveness. This "cheap trick," as referred to by authors Neil and Fenton, can result in miscategorization, exclusion, or unverified status of vaccinated individuals. These biases can be overlooked, leading to an impression of overwhelming vaccine efficacy, even when the vaccine has no effect. The fact that numerous studies from major journals have employed this method raises questions about the reliability of peer review processes. It's concerning that such errors could go unnoticed, indicating that the system may be broken and that the assurance of quality provided by peer review might not be as robust as we assume.

    • The importance of trust and due diligenceBlind trust can lead to costly consequences. Always verify promises and exercise caution and skepticism before trusting strangers or new information.

Trust and due diligence are crucial before investing time, money, or faith in new ideas or institutions. The parable of Mister Fousey and the town of Marksville illustrates this concept beautifully. Mister Fousey, an outsider, promised townspeople security for their savings and a free Ivermectron toaster as an incentive. Many fell for the offer, but when they woke up the next day, the bank was empty, and Mister Fousey was nowhere to be found. This story serves as a reminder that promises should be verified, and one should not be hasty in trusting strangers. In the context of the earlier discussion about mathematical errors in scientific research, it emphasizes the importance of double-checking and fact-finding before accepting new information as truth. The consequences of blind trust can be costly, and it's essential to exercise caution and skepticism.

    • Question assumptions and don't blindly trust authoritiesCritical thinking and skepticism are crucial in uncovering the truth, even when it goes against the consensus of the group.

The parable of the bank scam in Marksville reveals the importance of questioning assumptions and not blindly trusting authorities. Alexei's discovery of the scam was made possible by Lenny Broussard's questioning of whether they were still getting their posters, despite the townspeople's affirmative nods. This incident highlights the importance of critical thinking and skepticism, even when it goes against the consensus of the group. The role of Samuel Harrisburg, though minor, is significant as he opens the doors to the bank, allowing the townspeople to uncover the truth. The parable serves as a reminder to not accept things at face value and to always seek answers to important questions.

    • Appreciate life's simple pleasuresPrioritize relationships, cherish food, spend time outdoors, demand truth, and live a fulfilling life

Life is precious and should be enjoyed to the fullest. During our time here, we should prioritize the relationships we have with our loved ones, cherish the good food we eat, and make an effort to spend time outdoors. Additionally, it's important to demand truth and authenticity in our interactions with others and in the information we consume. By focusing on these things, we can live a more fulfilling and meaningful life. So, until we meet again, be good to those around you, indulge in delicious food, and soak up the beauty of nature. And never forget to seek out the truth in all things.

Anecdote in Science: The 224th Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying

In this 224th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this episode, we discuss animal behavior: the implications of an orangutan using a medicinal plant to treat a wound, and the one-off videos that we’ve all seen—of cats preventing toddlers from falling, of a beluga whale retrieving a woman’s phone. What does this say about the minds of these other organisms, and about us? Also: dog domestication, from wolves, but not from foxes. And: the New York Times publishes more insipid garbage about vaccine injury, Bret returns to the question of what safety means, and The Nation turns its back on its muckraking roots.

Never Alone: The 223rd Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying

Never Alone: The 223rd Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying

In this 223rd in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this episode, we discuss science and religion, materialism and other ways of understanding our world. Can analysis and quantification explain everything? Can narrative, intuition, and creativity? All are or should be part of the scientific process; science is incomplete with only one mode. We also discuss models, how they fail, how difficult they are to assess, and what one recent climate model has to say about the role of air pollution in Earth’s temperature. Enlightenment values require that we use our freedom to inquire about all things that we are curious about. Also: happy Beltane!

Why Darwin was Right: The 222nd Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying

Why Darwin was Right: The 222nd Evolutionary Lens with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying

In this 222nd in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we talk about the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.

In this episode, we discuss evolution, and how we know that it is true. We discuss the different kinds of beliefs that people have—beliefs that attempt to reconcile with reality, vs beliefs that reconcile with social standing and comfort. If your beliefs put you on the outs with your friends, do you change your beliefs, or your friends? Are you willing to give up the cocktail party for reality? We also discuss research published in 2000 and funded by Fauci’s NIAID, which demonstrated that it was possible to make chimeric coronaviruses, swapping the spike protein from one to a different species entirely. Finally: sex-biased gene expression, in which genes are expressed differently in the two sexes, in anatomical systems as varied as brain, kidneys, and liver.

Ep. 729 - Only Democrats Are Allowed To Make Hitler Analogies, According To Democrats

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, the Left has gone into spasms of outrage because Marjorie Taylor Greene made a Holocaust analogy. These are the same people who make Holocaust analogies every time they open their mouths. But somehow we’re supposed to take their outrage seriously this time. Well, I don’t. Also Five Headlines including breaking news that the COVID vaccine is 100 percent effective preventing COVID in kids. Do you know what else is nearly 100 percent effective in preventing COVID in kids? Their immune system.
