    Enrollment for ACFC is OPEN!

    Enrollment for ACFC is OPEN!

Enrollment for the Advanced Certification in Feminist Coaching is officially open for certified coaches and licensed mental health professionals! This will be our only group in 2024, and the last group that I'm going to do as an advanced certification for trained coaches and for therapists. Join us to deep dive into feminist thinking and the history of women's legal, political, and social rights and roles that impact the way that women think today. If your clients have absorbed social messaging about women, their brains have been impacted by it. ACFC is how you coach your clients (of any gender) in ways that don’t diminish their lived experiences and get them better results.

Text your email address to +1 347 997 1784 and when prompted send code word ACFC or visit unfuckyourbrain.com/acfc.

UFYB 307: Feminist Marriage Brain Part 2 — Marriage Ambivalence

UFYB 307: Feminist Marriage Brain Part 2 — Marriage Ambivalence

As a historically patriarchal institution, marriages of the past benefited the man far more than the woman. A man and woman became one legal entity, but the woman was essentially absorbed by her husband — she couldn’t hold a profession or make legal decisions for herself. She existed for procreation and unpaid labor. So what happens when despite knowing all of the statistics and all of the history, you think you still might want to get married? In part 2 of this series about my engagement, I focus on the decision to get married as it relates to socialization, why we can’t completely desocialize our brains, and why sometimes you just have to live with ambiguity and ambivalence.

UFYB 306: Feminist Marriage Brain Part 1 — Engagement Expectations

UFYB 306: Feminist Marriage Brain Part 1 — Engagement Expectations

We're socialized to believe that the way other people act is about us. Women are socialized to want big romantic gestures from men, which they then equate to how much the man loves them, which equates to how valuable they are as a woman. Newsflash: Other people’s behavior is not actually about you.

Tune in this week to find out why our expectations of how we want other people to behave (in all sorts of contexts) are influenced by our behavior, how engagements and the expectations that go along with them are a microcosm of where we’re at in society today, and why elaborate engagements make less sense in today’s society than they did in the past.

UFYB 298: Your Emotional Compass, Guilt & Shame

UFYB 298: Your Emotional Compass, Guilt & Shame

As women and people socialized as women, we’re often making decisions from an emotional place, deciding what to do based on whether doing it or not is going to make us feel worse, aka ashamed or guilty — two emotional states that we’ve been taught to avoid. Tune in to find out why guilt and shame are not moral truths of the universe (and what they actually are), and how deciding what to think and feel on purpose will help you lead a life that’s aligned with your values.

UFYB 257: Social Conditioning, Religion, Men & Patriarchy: A Conversation with Danny and Lindsay Poelman

This week on the podcast I’m joined by one of my Advanced Certification in Feminist Coaching students, Lindsay Poelman, and her husband, Danny, as we discuss what it’s like for men to recognize their own patriarchal socialization.

Tune in as we talk about how patriarchal conditioning is not a zero sum game, how patriarchy can be oppressive to people of all gender identities (not just women), and why the feeling of disempowerment in privileged white men can actually lead to positive change.

UFYB 206: People Pleasing in Sex, Marriage, and Everywhere Else: A Conversation with Advanced Certification in Feminist Coaching Graduates Maggie Reyes, Sara Fisk, and Sonia Wright

Does saying “no” make you feel like you’re going to die? Are you so fixated on taking care of everybody around you that you neglect yourself? People socialized as women are taught that they are responsible for everyone else’s thoughts and feelings, and that their value comes from taking care of others…so it’s no wonder that so many of us struggle with people-pleasing.

On this episode, you will meet three of my Advanced Certification in Feminist Coaching students - Maggie Reyes, Sara Fisk, and Sonia Wright - for a conversation about where people-pleasing comes from, how it manifests in their clients, and how to interrupt your people-pleasing habit.

    UFYB 153: Copenhagen & Croissants

    UFYB 153: Copenhagen & Croissants

You would never go to a toy store for a gala dress, so why do you stay with someone who’s afraid of commitment, when you’re looking for a life partner? Why do you seek validation from a parent, when they’ve never once approved of your choices? In this episode, I’ll teach you how to stop seeking validation, love, and approval from people who will never give it to you - and how to give it to yourself, instead.
