Ep 92 How Neurofeedback Changed One Man's Life with Mindy Haukedahl + Client

Ep 92 How Neurofeedback Changed One Man's Life with Mindy Haukedahl + Client

Interview with Mindy Haukedahl and her client, Chris to share personal and professional experience on how effective Neurofeedback Therapy can be.

Chris had actually heard Well Connected’s podcast episode 78 where Mindy spoke on neurofeedback. As a patient of Mindy’s, he was inspired to share his personal story Chris had suffered since age 12 with PTSD, anxiety, and depression with no success in therapy. During the height of the pandemic, his symptoms went to the extreme, pushing him to try something new. After a few months of bravely pursuing psychotherapy and neurofeedback therapy, Chris went from being terrified of driving or being on Zoom calls to eagerly skydiving and proposing to his girlfriend!

While Mindy provides her own perspective and expertise as a therapist, Chris shares the very real fears that held him back in life and how tackling his mental health head on with the right care provider completely changed his life for the better.

We talk about the social barriers men face in addressing their mental health. Mindy explains why neurofeedback is such an appealing alternative to talk therapy for men in particular as it is data-driven and focused on brain functionality vs talk therapy.

Mindy Haukedahl received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in Family Studies and Master of Arts degree in K-12 School Counseling from Xavier University in Cincinnati. After moving back up to Minnesota in 2006, She got a job as a school counselor at an alternative

high school for at-risk youth. In 2014 she completed a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University. Mental health has always been her passion. In 2016 she became the Director of Counseling for New Life Academy in Woodbury, MN. She loves spending time with students as they process through life’s stressors, but it had always been a dream of hers to have a private practice, so she went back to school and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist through Adler Graduate School of Psychology.

She is the owner of Afton Therapy in Oakdale, MN and specializes in Individual psychotherapy, diagnostic testing for ADHD, and remote neurofeedback. She is fascinated with neuroanatomy and how human behavior is formed. She is a certified Brain Health Professional through Amen Clinics and certified in Neurofeedback through the BCIA (Biofeedback Verification International Alliance).

Ep 87 Finding the Right Fit with Alex Stalberger

Ep 87 Finding the Right Fit with Alex Stalberger

Interview with Owner and Founder of Well Connected Twin Cities, Alex Stalberger sharing her Provider Interview Guide to help you and your family find the right provider fit.

As an emerging integrative health coach in November of 2017, Alex quickly discovered that supporting the healing of a human and running a healing business were very different things. She quickly began gathering professionals to connect, support, and learn from each other. These gatherings started humble and would become the collaborative force behind Well Connected Twin Cities.

Together with health and wellness practitioners across the metro we are spreading the message of empowered wellbeing–Alex’s original motivation to become an integrative health coach.

When she isn’t developing the next phase of Well Connected Twin Cities, she’s most likely chasing her tiny humans, attempting to keep her house plants alive, or convincing her partner they should rescue a dog. . .  or a goat.

#20: What is a Psychic Medium and How One Can Help You to Heal

Do you ever feel guilty for a loved one's passing even if you had nothing to do with it? Or perhaps childhood trauma is affecting your everyday life without you even knowing? Today’s guest, Lisa Morrison, an Evidential Psychic Medium, joins me to share how her own anxiety led her to become aware of her abilities and how  she now uses those abilities to help others (like you!) to find comfort and healing in their own lives.

    In this episode:

    • Lisa's struggle with unexplained panic attacks and eventually discovering her psychic medium abilities
    • How trauma in childhood can block your psychic or medium abilities
    • Letting go of your guilt after a loved one passes on
    • When you dream of deceased loved ones, is that really them visiting you?
    • When is the right time to go see a medium  (Hint: It won't always work!)
    • How Lisa actually works with those who've crossed over to deliver messages
    • The difference between the psychic and a medium

Ep. 104- Get Brain Washed with Dr. Austin Perlmutter

    Another Clubhouse connection!!

Dr. Austin Perlmutter is an internal medicine doctor who now focuses on helping people improve their health through better decisions, neuroscience, and lifestyle interventions.

Like me he believes our current model of healthcare is unsustainable, and that this is a result of missing true causes of our major issues: poor decision-making, rewired neurochemistry and bad mental health.

He is a big fan of nature exposure as both a hobby and as a medical intervention and the power of sleep, empathy, and an anti-inflammatory diet as strategies to improve our physical and mental health.

He is also a New York Times Bestselling Author of Brain Wash: Detox Your Mind for Clearer Thinking, Deeper Relationships, and Lasting Happiness with his father, Dr. David Perlmutter author of Grain Brain.
