Confidence & Your Personal Brand & Style with Vicky Booker

Confidence & Your Personal Brand & Style with Vicky Booker

This is a great episode of the confidence conversations podcast where I chat to Vicky Booker who is a style and personal brand coach.

For me there is a big link between confidence and what you wear, it's linked to your environment and how you feel which in turn impacts your confidence.

As well as talking about what confidence means to her and how she manages it Vicky shares with us how she helps her clients to be more confident with their style and clothing choice.

Working with people one to one and in groups Vicky is able to explore people's colour types in relation to what they wear.  It was so interesting to hear her talk about the psychology to what you wear and what the different colours mean.

We needed no excuse to talk about big pants with that on the inside or the outside and you'll have to listen to the episode to find out more about that.

I loved that Vicky shared her advice about beginning with the end in mind from Steven Coveys 7 habits of highly effective people.  Preparation is key to feeling confident and feeling confident in what you are wearing can form part of your preparation.

We talk about the most common reasons why people work with Vicky how she helps them to think differently about what they have been wearing and what they could wear.

Listen to the episode in full to find out Vicky's one piece of advice for feeling more confident with your style.

     About Vicky

Mental Health & Confidence with Elly Johnson

Mental Health & Confidence with Elly Johnson

In this episode of the confidence conversations podcast I chat to Elly Johnson from Well Minds Training.  This was Elly's first ever podcast and I'm delighted she chose to do that with me.

Back in 2022 I trained as a mental health first aider with Elly, I want to add some tools around mental health first aid to my coaching kitbag as well as understanding more about mental health increasing my knowledge and my confidence in how I could best support those who suffer with poor mental health.

    In this episode we talk about lots of topics;

    • the links between confidence, mental health & physical health;
    • how the pandemic might have helped with the stigma around mental health;
    • the focus put on physical health and first-aid & why there needs to be the same focus on mental health
    • 10 keys to happier living https://actionforhappiness.org/10-keys

The stats on mental health speak for themselves, 1 in four people will suffer from poor mental health and 1 and 6 working age adults have symptoms associated with poor mental health resulting in 72 million working days lost per year.

Give the episode a listen, we'd love to know what you think.

    About Elly…

I am passionate about raising awareness of mental health and mental ill health, helping to reduce the stigmas and discrimination that surround mental health, and supporting people to live positive and meaningful lives.

With 12 years experience as a registered nurse working in the UK and abroad, I now enjoy meeting different people through delivery of the Mental Health First Aid courses, from senior managers of international organisations to self-employed personal trainers.

From early on in my professional life I have had an interest in overall well-being which has resulted in me always thinking about people holistically whilst caring for them, but on a personal level I have experienced a period of poor mental health myself and, unsurprisingly given the statistics, have many close friends and family members that have been affected either directly or indirectly by a range of mental health issues.

I am an experienced MHFA England Instructor member and I started Well Minds Training Ltd in 2018, delivering open courses to a variety of individuals or as an associate trainer for other training Organisations. I am also currently a volunteer for West Sussex Mind, part of a team providing help, information and advice related to mental health to anyone living in West Sussex.

This is a great conversation around conflict and its relationship with confidence my objectives for this conversation where to understand as Emma puts it how to argue well for me it's about how to argue well with confidence.

We talk about what mediation is and what it's not, about the language we use in relation to conflict and how talking about it differently makes it feel different.

Emma has some amazing tips about how to face into conflict with confidence and also what happens when you don't face into conflict because of a lack of confidence.

We all face conflict from time to time and there's so much information in this podcast but I really encourage you to listen to the full version to find out more.

     All About Emma:

Online Presence & Confidence with Emily & Alan from Yellow Tuxedo

Online Presence & Confidence with Emily & Alan from Yellow Tuxedo

In this episode of the confidence conversations podcast I chat to Emily and Alan from Yellow Tuxedo about having confidence in your online presence.

They've been working together as a real life couple for about a decade. They describe themselves as marketing mentors helping to show small business owners and entrepreneurs how to demystify the internet and get it working for their business.

In this episode we talk about everything from marketing structure to your ecosystems to micro & macro marketing, from seasonal affective disorder affecting confidence to you being the expert on you.

There are some moments in this episode where we talk about upbringing, anxiety being a child at school again, getting the answer wrong and how that would affect confidence.

We agree that often there's more to be said in saying nothing when it comes to content but that takes confidence to say to yourself I'm not going to post anything this week.

This is one of the longer podcasts in the series but it's well worth a listen because there's so much content in this podcast that there aren't enough words for me to describe what we talk about.

My final question was three tips that you would give the listeners about online presence and confidence and of course yellow tuxedo had more than 3, I think it was 3.75.

So grab a cup of tea and give it a listen. Don't forget that you can connect with yellow tuxedo by following the link to their website which will take you to all of their socials.  And the link is below for the Digital Circus Live - 28th March 2023.

    Episode 194: Phoenix

    Episode 194: Phoenix

    (Intro & piano music)

    Happy New Year everyone!
Here's a little myth of strength and beauty to kickstart the month. The Ancient Greeks believed there was a creature born way before the gods that held all the knowledge. It had the most beautiful voice and the most amazing colours in its feathers. Some said it was the size of an eagle and others, bigger than an ostrich! But when it sang, the Sun would stop its chariot to listen to the song. There was only one born every five hundred years and when time was up, it would build a nest and set itself on fire, only to reborn and start the cycle again. Its name in ancient Greek meant deep red but the myth can be found in Egypt, Africa and Persia with variations yet, the name remains the same, ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ/ PHOENIX

Prayer - What Matters Most to God

Prayer - What Matters Most to God

This is part 2 of our looking into prayer, more specifically, what does GOD say we should pray for.  Last week we looked at Colossians  1:9-10.  We discovered, Paul had never met the church at Colossae. Yet, once he heard of their love and faith he began praying for them regularly.  This week we look at a prayer Paul prays for the church at Thessalonica.  You will notice both prayers have something similar.  Join with us as we examine the greatest need in our prayer life - that we and other may know GOD!

Grace and peace friends.  Glory to GOD!  Worthy is the LAMB!

11      To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power,
12      so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    What are you praying for?

    What are you praying for?

Have you ever thought about what people ask for when you ask them what you can pray for them about?  Most of the time you will hear requests for earthly things.  Not that those are necessarily bad or do not have merit.   But, really, when was the last time you heard someone ask you to pray for them that they might know GOD more, as HE is revealed in HIS Word?

One area we as believers need to get back to is our FIRST LOVE and how HE is known in HIS Word!  We need to know GOD more and more so we may grow in HIM.  Our prayers should be reflective of that.

9      For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
              10      so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11      strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously
12      giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

Learning to Live a Better Life with Greg LaBlanc

Learning to Live a Better Life with Greg LaBlanc

Greg LaBlanc is the host of the Unsiloed podcast. He is a lifelong educator with degrees in History, PPE, Business, and Law, Greg currently teaches at Berkeley, Stanford, and HEC Paris.

He has taught in multiple disciplines, from Engineering to Economics, Biology to Business, and Psychology to Philosophy.

The podcast is based on a series of interviews Greg has had with leading global thought leaders and Nobel prize winners writing, thinking, and leading thought in the world today. The interviews are drawn from a wide set of topics, all in an attempt to get closer to one question: "How do we live a good life." This is the case as much on the level of business decisions as on the individual level.

Greg makes the case for the quest for Truth, Beauty, and Goodness as a foundation for a happy and virtuous life. It is not about Comfort, as the quest for intellectual virtue is not comfortable. He argues that the intellect needs to be confronted by challenges much in the same way as the body needs exercise, and this is all needed for a good life.

    Confidence Conversation with Kate Harris

    Confidence Conversation with Kate Harris

My guest on Episode 12 of Confidence Conversation, the last in this series, is the inspiring Kate Harris who is the Founder and CEO of VotesForSchools.

This is a great conversation about confidence as Kate is possibly the most resilient person I know which I think naturally gives you confidence when you feel like you have nothing left in your tank.

We chat about lots of confidence things including visiting the bank manager in flipflops,   and how the foundations of confidence can mean you either have a mansion on those foundations or you have a crumbling bungalow.

Kate began her teaching career in 2000 and very quickly found a passion for Citizenship, PSHE, and student voice.

Kate left teaching in 2014 to follow her dream of finding a way to support schools in developing SMSC & British Values, making it engaging to children and young people, and getting students to discuss the biggest issues affecting them today.  Kate's Citizenship teaching days also developed her desire to see young people becoming more involved in democracy and voting.

Kate co-founded VotesforSchools which enables any teacher regardless of subject or experience to feel confident to discuss tricky subjects and then vote, VotesforSchools takes this voting data and uses it to inform influential people and groups about what young people think and feel about a variety of political issues.

Todays guest is Keinan Briggs one of my favorite humans.

He is a sports coach and mentor with an incredible story.

Keinan is sharing The secret to life with our community and friends today.

Keinan shares how he followed his Intuitive path, and created his life experiences deliberately.

    His formula of transformation.🙌🏾

We are talking money mindset, manifestation, visualization, and even dual realities.

Something (dual reality) I personally struggled to understand until Keenan shared his insightful perspective and wisdom.

I understand, dual reality to be, the ability to choose in the present tense what state of being you want to express in your future. This is done by being conscientious and choosing your next thought or reaction in response to your current experience. In choosing presently ( thought or action ), Who you will be in the future conscientiously (your next movement, behavior, response, etc. and which affect your reality only) you are connecting yourself to the future which is the duality.

You don’t want to miss this episode.

    Confidence Conversation with Dan Heelan

    Confidence Conversation with Dan Heelan

Dan Heelan heads up business accountancy firm Heelan Associates, who help small business owners all over the country start, survive and grow.

Dan had an odd journey into accounting, having been a business owner first, before retraining later in life to be an accountant.

Fast forward 15 years later and Heelan Associates growing team of 27 are on a mission to set the standard for what small business accounting should look like, by combining traditional values with modern thinking.

I loved this episode because we talked about so many areas from confidence being an outwardly thing and how we view or perceive people to be confident when often they aren't.

We discuss the environments we find ourselves in and how this can impact confidence both negative and positively.

Dan also asked me a great question about what I saw as the impact of gender on confidence.

Have a listen - I'd love to know what you think.
